I do but I "don't" card...

My family and I have come to visit my step Mom and my DH thought he saw where my step Mom's BF had posted on facebook that he was in engaged, well you know me I didn't want to show up empty handed so I made a card JUST IN CASE this was really true. Turns out he was commenting on something someone had said to him about being married to his motorcycle (yes you heard me right) and he replied back that no he was only engaged to it. (Never trust your DH to give you the full story lol). So I had to tell her the story and show her the card anyways... We thought we might cover up the lady in the card and put a picture of his motorcycle in her place and give it to him anyways. :D

I used the sweethearts cart for the inside of the card. I don't remember what cart the "congrats" on the outside is from though. I know I LOVE using my Xyron to put glitter on things though as it makes it so easy to do! The clothespins are glued on with nothing other than Helmar's 450. That stuff holds anything in place! Look closely and you can see the sneaky lil bottle trying to get in the picture as it ALWAYS does ;)

On the inside I used some hemp but I took Lindy's Stamp Gang (one of the blue colors) and soaked it in it for awhile. You can't see it in the picture but it glimmers and shines that stuff is so awesome to use!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Pack of Cards & tags

I have been busy making cards for my friend as her Mom loves homemade cards and she wanted to give her some for Christmas. I had some trouble and I came across a blog that gave me my inspiration and drive back. As I hit a rock and could not even create one thing. Tracy thank you so much for bringing my head and heart back to where it belonged. Sorry I was so focused on making them I failed to write any of the things down I did, as in measurements :(

Glitter Ornaments

Hello out there all ya crafty people friends! The kids and I made some Christmas ornaments today that I wanted to share with you! They were made using hairspray, Martha Stewart glitter, vinyl, and clear glass balls. The names were created on my Gypsy using the Gypsy Font. My creative daughter decided to make her with all different colors and it turned out so good that after we were done the rest of the ornaments were all made with all different colors! I am posting these to My Pink Stampers challenge as well so wish me luck!

Dino Wobble Card

Here is the dino card I made tonight. Just a short video to show you it in motion lol. Not sure if this post will work as this is the first time I am even attempting a video post.

I also made 2 valentine's day cards. Helmar is fantastic to hold all the heavy elements on too! I made a heart by cutting out 2 plain hearts, and 1 patterned paper heart. Glued them together to try to get them to not curl when I added the Liquid Pewter pearls, smooch spray and Glossy Accents. And it worked! Oh I inked the edges before I started any of the pewter or accents. I don't remember where I got the lock and key brads from though. Sorry. Those Helmar White 1/2 inch Zapdots have that heart stuck for LIFE on that card let me tell ya!

Ok not going to bore you with tons of detail tonight I want to curl up on the couch for a bit..

Hope you all like!

Hang in There!!

Hey all! Chris Wooten of Turned Gypsy asked that many of us crafters make some cards to send her so she can send them onto the hospitals to give that special child/adult a lil smile when they need it most. So I have been working on another design today that I thought was sort of cute, at least it made my son smile :). I wanted to make a card more geared towards a boy so they don't get some girly card when they need it. So I used Four Legged Friends & Disney's Pooh cartridge to make a masculine type of card.
I cut the snake at 2.5 and used all textured cardstock. The eyes on the snake really don't cut out with the cut being that small so I used my Forever In Time black glitter gel pen to put a lil sparkle in his eyes. The tree limb is from Disney's Pooh cart cut at 6 inches. I used my ultra thin Sharpie markers to outline the tree limb and leaves. I punched out a 1 inch circle and stamped My Pink Stampers "Hang in There" stamp.
The mat is an Ivory cardstock distressed with Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany then I took a background stamp of bricks and stamped it in darker of the Aged Mahogany. The took some Walnut stain and went back over it all lightly to give it more of a real brick wall feel.  Of course I had to use Kraft cardstock for the base of the card! I think I have a problem with this cardstock now as I want to use it on EVERYTHING now lol... Since all of these are going a very long way I used my Helmar 450 adhesive to put it all on the card as this stuff is AWESOME stuff!
Ok enough babbling and here ya go! Hope you like it!

Snow Cutie!

I was drug to Menards tonight by my husband after work. I really hadn't wanted to do anywhere but he insisted we go pick out the walls that we wanted in the scrap room so I felt I really needed to go. I got there before him so I walked around for a bit not really thinking I would find anything interesting at a hardware store. BOY was I WRONG! They have cricut cartridges!!! And they were on sale for $20 a piece! So you bet your booty I picked up a few of them! Ok Ok I had like 7 in my hands and put 4 of them back lol. I got Sweet Treats, Nursery Rhymes, and Graphically Speaking.
I got the Graphically speaking just in time for a challenge I wanted to do too! Over at M.A.G challenge by the page you get to only use the cricut for the cuts on a specific page they pick on a specific cart. This week it is from Graphically Speaking and page 56. I made the snowflakes on this page and cut them at size 2. Using Helmar's 450 glue I glued the two pieces together then used stickles in various places. Mostly diamond but also some Waterfall color. The snowflake on the left I wanted to stick out some so I used Helmar's scrap dots to make it pop off of the page. The one on the left is glued down with 450.
The rest of the cuts on this card are all by hand! No machine work involved! Ok so I can't cut a perfect circle and used my punches... The snowman is punched out and glued together with Helmar's Acid Free glue. I drew his arms on a brown piece of textured cardstock (on the back) and then cut them out. I attached them to the snowman with tiny white brads so his arms are movable! He has a "Snow Cuties" Peachy Keen Stamp for his face (stinkin cute!). He is adhered to the card with Helmar's White Zapdots 1/2 Square. (Helmar has some FANTASTIC adhesives and you really need to check them out HERE! Some stickles here and there and some ribbon from Michaels. I cut out some white paper to try to look like snow for the bottom and used a My Pink Stamper "Winter Punnies" stamp that says "Thanks Snow Much!"

I am entering this in M.A.G. Challenges by the page, The Crafty Pad, & Gingersnap Creations, Fantabulous Cricut Monday Challenge.

Jolly Holidays Christmas Tags

I wanted to post the tags I made this weekend from my Jolly Holidays cartridge. $20 Black Friday purchase baby!

I cut the wreaths and mittens at 2 inches, the snowman and tree at 3 inches (I did have to use my xyron 5 inch machine to run the black part of the tree through though). Loads of stickles going on with these tags! I even used some white flock on the mittens! The holes to punch in these tags were so easy using my Crop-a-dile!

The ribbon is from the "Ribbon Boutique" and the bells I bought at Tuesday Morning.

Loving this cartridge people!

Hope you like them! My kids were already picking out which ones they want on their presents!

I will be announcing the winner of my blog hop candy when I get home from work tonight so stay tuned!!! I have had A TON of people start following my site and am so excited that you are all here! Thank you!

Christmas Card Blog Hop!

Welcome to Lisa's Scrap'n Shack , and the Christmas Card Blog Hop! If you've come from visiting Giselle ,  you're in the right place. If you were just looking at my blog and want to play along with our blog hopping fun, you can go to the beginning at www.craftycardgallery.blogspot.com.  This blog hop is intended to get you in the Christmas Spirit.... If you haven’t already started/finished your Christmas cards, hopefully this will inspire you to come up with an idea... and maybe you can win some blog candy or get ideas for great Christmas gifts (whether they’re on your list or for someone else!).  So if you aren’t braving the malls and can get some computer time, come join us for some fun!

For my Christmas card I wanted to try my hand at making a Shaker card. What theme would make the best shaker in this situation you ask? Why what else other than SNOW!?

I started off with a 5 x 7 piece of textured cardstock in a light blue color. No I didn’t use traditional Christmas colors for the simple reason that snow makes you feel like everything is fresh and new! Think back to a crisp morning right after a night of falling snow. Smell that air? AHHH!!
I mated a black piece of textured card stock, size 6 ¾ x 4 ¾ onto the top of the card and then another layer of patterned paper from “The Paper Studio” that I got at Hobby Lobby.
The shaker frame is the made from the Mother’s Day 2010 cartridge. Not sure what the name of the shape is I used sorry. But I made it 5 inches for the outside and 4.5 for the inside and welded them together using my Gypsy. I cut this out 8 times with my Cricut Expression. 4 of the layers are cut using a frozen Totino’s pizza box. And the other 4 are cut with the black textured cardstock. The back base is also cut at 5 inches hiding the oval in the center. I cut a piece of acetate for the cover at 5 inches.
Inside the shaker are 2 embellishments from Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section.  I put some flock on the edges of each snowflake. I bought some micro beads at Tuesday Morning to use for the shaker part. I think they are called Beadies. I used Helmar's Clear Round Zap Dots to adhere the shaker part to my card.
The ribbon and brad & tiny snowflakes are from Hobby Lobby, and the stamp “Let it Snow” is from My Pink Stamper’s “Winter Punnie’s” set.
Inside the card I used the same dimensions on the mat. Then I cut out a 3 x 3 piece of textured black cardstock, a 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ piece of the pattern paper, and a 2 ½ x 2 ½ piece of Ivory cardstock to put the sentiment on. The sentiment I bought from Joann’s and it is from TPC Studio the “Christmas Phrases” set. I put a couple of the same snowflakes that are on the outside on the sentiments mat.

***Closed at 56 entries!!!**

Phew that was a long description! Thanks for listening to me ramble! I know, you all are waiting for the best part of this post and that is the candy! I have a $10 dollar gift card to Hobby Lobby or Michaels for one lucky winner (sorry only US residents on this one guys).  Here is how ya win:
